  • Xmas is fast approaching!

Hot damn-I finished grading this morning. Went to school and returned keys and sketchbooks. Did some shopping for my Dad for his Birthday (yesterday), Xmas, and his trip to Florida. (I bought him some Road Treats since he is driving down). I also managed to get them all wrapped up as well as including a fun print of my WAKE UP cat drawing- framed of course! I wanted to give him the painting I started, but there has been too many distractions for me to finish. I will complete it and give it to him on his return trip home instead!

And so tonight the kittens come over with Dad for a couple of weeks while Dad is away. I am a little concerned since are set to get a big snow storm on Saturday when he is supposed to leave. However-I always worry whenever he drives down there...

6 Cats for Xmas! YOWIE! I am sure I will sharing photos with you.

Well I better get moving-he is due here anytime and I am getting really hungry. We are just going to Bertucci's for dinner which is pretty simple yet yummy. I already know I am going to order the Salmon on wilted spinach greens! And we are going to have dessert for him-instead of a birthday cake. Much more delicious choice I think. Besides he could never finish off a birthday cake before Saturday.

Okay- Off I go. More later!

  • White Wet Noise...

Late night here on a Saturday. I just came upstairs to bed which isn't really "going to bed" since I am on the laptop. The light is on, the ceiling fan is on low casting shadows around the room. I also decided that I needed set up the humidifier tonight.

I have woken up the past few nights now with a very dry mouth, cracking lips and a nose which is completely crusty! NOT ATTRACTIVE! Stupid me also kept forgetting the chap stick before bed too so without any help or moisture things have been rough. Instead of just complaining to myself about it in the mornings, I decided to cut to the chase and just get it set up and use it for the rest of the winter. I mean, really there is no getting around it when it comes to an old house with radiators for heat. DRY HEAT! Happy wonderful toasty heat... but dangerous to my skin. I have dry skin to begin with so this is a bad time of the year for me on top of my genetics. I used to put a bowl of water on them but it dries out so fast/or the cats try to drink it or knock it over...sigh. So I just leave pretty smelling pine scented candles sitting on little glass plates and let the house smell lovely- and just turn on the water machine! Did I mention it is loud? Yes-a truly strong fan. BUT it is perfect white noise. It is like being in a plane. Ready for take off which always puts my right to sleep. All and all it is a potentially good situation. Unless the alarm doesn't go off or I don't hear it... White noise for me can be a bad thing- since I sleep soundly. Haaa...damned if you do...

As I am typing this little note, I am starting to feel really sleepy. Good considering I was feeling fussy to begin with. Why? Well I guess I feel like I didn't get enough done today. I wanted to clean and straighten the house. Instead I seem to have just made the house look a little more messy since I was out buying things today. Mostly Tupperware for the basement for sorting clothes. The Walmart had two very specific colors of containers- Orange and Purple. I wanted something which was colorful and would stand out. Something so I know what is in them. Sadly they only had 4 orange and 6 purple. I guess my clothes will have to go in Purple since there were 6. Thomas will get orange. I will go downstairs tomorrow and sort and arrange. Or so I hope. That was today's plan-and Poof! Didn't happen. Instead I took a nice nap this evening and woke up tired. Did a few things around the house, ate leftover pizza and watched SNL which was irritating and made me even more fussy. I then just decided to cut the loss of the unproductive day and come upstairs.

Now it is 1:30am and I feel terribly full from leftovers. GOT TO STOP EATING COMFORT FOOD! I am noticing I am gaining a belly back. Ugh! Also-I thought perhaps I should shake things up in life and start eating a breakfast in the mornings. WELL-I have been doing that since September and - screw that. The moment I eat something I get sleepy. This morning I had 2 pieces of toast and coffee and wanted to go right back to bed. It is just me. The moment I eat I slow down and want to nap. What I have been used too in the past is going going going without eating in the mornings until about 1pm or 2 and then crashing after having something to eat. AT LEAST I can get a bunch of stuff done before my body slows down. I now can say I have tried it both ways and I think I just like it my way. So I think I am just going to do what I need to do. Stop eating so much bread and look at eating more veggies and protein. Goodness! HA! Wait until the first hint of SPRING. That is when I really get sick of myself and start shedding the poorly distributed weight of winter. Sadly- winter has not even begun...

And so, I am going to shut this down for tonight and just give into the White Wet noise. Tomorrow will be a better more productive day!

  • Everything else is icing...

MerryMart is now over and a lovely success! It is the end of Art Vending for 2009.
Teaching at Towson University is winding down this week too. It is the last week of classes followed by a week of Exams.
It has been an interesting year to say the least!
I will be grading like crazy over these final two weeks.

And oh- and I happy to be able spend some time doing some things for myself for a change. Well-not completely me me me-but a good bit of "me" time.

    1. I want to clean the upstairs office. Or rather- I NEED to clean the upstairs office.
    2. The STUDIO needs LOTS of CLEANING and attention for sure! YOWIE!
    3. I have to clean most of the house-dishes, laundry, vacuuming, etc...
    4. I really want to rip down the rest of the bathroom walls soon! It is time to finish that bathroom-(must wait until there is time to really fix it if it is a mess-not sure what to expect under there...)
    5. Then there is the whole- Putting up the Xmas tree and decorating the rest of the house since I have not had time to get to it.
    6. I would love some time to just go out and mindlessly look around in local thrift shops.
    7. Perhaps reading a book would be nice?
    8. Finally there are the Xmas gifts I am making too! Only about a week or so to get those done after all this...

And so there it is. All of this before I am 40! ***SIGH*** yes-that is coming fast too! December 30th. Ugh... What can you do? It is coming whether I like it or not. Happily Thomas has taken the day off to spend with me. I think I want to continue the tradition and go to the Visionary Museum for the afternoon and have lunch at Paper Moon. They make the best Thanksgiving sandwich ever-! (No I can not get enough of turkey~! Haa!)

As for a party? Haa... Not sure...I do not think I have enough people in my life to actually throw a party... so maybe just a simple dinner out might be okay.
And so the New Year is ahead of us! It is going to be a packed year of teaching and travel again I suspect? Who knows what will be... All I want is love, health and happiness. Everything else is icing.

    Good Night...

  • Inspiration comes in mysterious ways...

This is a photo from an OLD album which I bought yesterday at the Golden Nugget from "Irish Phil"...
I Knew from the moment I saw this that I had to have this album no matter what the cost.
Luckily for me it, Phil gave me the whole thing for $15

And so this photo... will be the motivation for my next painting.
Nothing like a couple of Cat Dancers...

  • HA! Happy November!

Sheww! November is finally here! Loving this time of the year. I love getting ready for the Holiday's~! I stated off with painting

Then this morning I brewed a pot of Peppermint Chocolate coffee!
    YUM!

I know it is a wee bit early to be drinking this- it seems to set off my acid reflux-however I am going to risk it!
And so where does this leave me for the week?
More painting and planning for new jewelry, teaching at school, and cooking.

    Until tomorrow-

  • New Shrine Series begins...

And who by fire, who by water,
Who in the sunshine, who in the night time,
Who by high ordeal, who by common trial,
Who in your merry merry month of may,
    Who by very slow decay,
And who shall I say is calling?

And who in her lonely slip, who by barbiturate,
Who in these realms of love, who by something blunt,
And who by avalanche, who by powder,
Who for his greed, who for his hunger,
And who shall I say is calling?

And who by brave assent, who by accident,
Who in solitude, who in this mirror,
Who by his ladys command, who by his own hand,
Who in mortal chains, who in power,
And who shall I say is calling?
